Alex is a man of many parts. On the surface, he is a quiet, soft-spoken, easygoing gentleman, and often that is the impression he makes until you really make contact and discover his brilliance, depth, passion, principle, and purpose.

Mr. Alex B. Ladan was born on November 3rd 1979 in the city of Jos. A Mwaghavul man from Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Alex is a man of many parts. On the surface, he is a quiet, soft spoken, easygoing gentleman and often that is the impression he makes until you really make contact and discover his brilliance, depth, passion, principle and purpose.

A sociologist by training, Alex has used his learning and experience to venture into other fields while applying himself to making society better. Currently, he is a miner, businessman and community developer. As the Managing Director of White Star Mining and General Merchant Ltd, he has had close interactions with the grassroots people in the State as well as a vast understanding of the promise, potential and problems of the industry.

Over the years, Alex has been intimately involved in the workings of society from the communities to the leadership by his involvement in community and political projects.

He has participated in working to bring social amenities such as drinking water and electricity to some communities. Through the Alex Ladan Foundation, he has lead a team of health professionals to provide eye care to rural and urban communities within Plateau State, providing 4225 medicated eye glasses while treating 8143 patients with eye related issues.In addition to amenities, he has also worked to see a restoration of order in communities by holding parents accountable for ensuring the presence of their children in school to combat truancy and its attendant problems.

Furthermore, Alex served as a UNDP Monitor during the National Population and Housing Census Project in 2006 earning him a recommendation by the UNDP because of His competence and professionalism.

Because he is passionate about believing in Nigeria and her potential for transformation, he has been the Chairman of the New Nation conference from 2017 till date.The New Nation Conference is an annual gathering of young Nigerians from diverse backgrounds who believe that Nigeria can rise above its challenges to attain prosperity.

Alex is a man with a web of networks and from interactions with his network, his formal education and daily self-education; he has the aspirations for service to Plateau State. He has formed a detailed economic plan in his conscientious, analytical manner to move the State from a “civil service State” to a self-sustained economy.

He received quality education from first class institutions like Federal Government College Jos, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigerian Institute for Management, Harvardx- Harvard School of Public Health and MITx- Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From these institutions he has been trained in Sociology, Public Health, and he is currently learning about Digital Currency from the University of Nicosia.

Alex shows unique abilities as a team builder with a knack for identifying key players and ring leaders and with them, building winning teams. He has an exceptional eye for excellence, is research driven and analytical. An organised thinker and executor, his objectivity earns him results making him a go-to person for complex issues.

Along with his mental acumen, he carries into his work personal ethics of humility, selflessness and integrity. He is able to lead by service and be both leader and servant at once.

Political Career
He contested the 2019 gubernatorial election of Plateau State as the youngest candidate at the age of 37 under the Alliance for New Nigeria Party. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him third out of 24 candidates in the general elections. Currently, he is a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and an aspirant for the 2023 gubernatorial race.

His determination to see visionary and purposeful leadership in Nigeria is eminent in the series of leadership trainings and conferences, community engagement as well as other projects and programmes executed through the Alex Ladan Foundation.

In February 2020, the Pathfinders School of Leadership Jos where he is the principal trained over 130 pioneer students in its annual 7-weeks intensive leadership course with a top-notch faculty such as Hon. Frank Nweke II (Former Minister of Information); Mr. Fela Durotoye ( Former Presidential Candidate and a Leadership Consultant); Dr. Lanre Olusola (Emotional Intelligence Expert) and many more.

He organised a leadership symposium in July 2021 through his foundation in partnership with the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Plateau State chapter under the leadership of Senator Tunde Ogbeha (Caretaker Committee Chairman). The event had in attendance dignitaries such as Dr. Selcan Miner (OFR – Elder Statesman and Former Secretary to the then Benue Plateau State), His Excellency, Amb. Fidelis Tapgun (Former Governor of Plateau State,His Excellency, Dr. Jonah David Jang (Former Governor, Plateau State), Hon. Damishi Sango(Former Minister for Youth and sports ) Distinguished Professor Yusufu Turaki (Keynote Speaker), and a host of present and past political leaders, stakeholders, unionists, media personalities and students organisations etc.

A family man, Alex is married to his sweetheart Patience Nanep Ladan and the beautiful, exemplary marriage has produced two boys who enjoy the conscientious care of their parents.

This is a man who will certainly lead Plateau State to her deserved, glorious future, harnessing her full potential and by doing so, be part of the dream team building a New Nigeria.
